Hi, my name is Rita Reif and I have a request. I am on the Board of Directors for the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter. We are trying to raise money for the shelter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. What is unique about the shelter is that it is for families and for men. We feel in a time of crises, if a family can stay together, it will make them stronger. We are a shelter that gives a hand up, not a hand out. What the shelter does is to give our people a place to stay, to help them find employment, permanent housing and to teach them the skills they need to live. It is a unique shelter and of course always struggling for money.
The raffle that we are having features a Harley Davidson Quilt. The quilt is 92”x92” and made out of 100% cotton. Harley Davidson bandanas were used to create the setting for the quilt. A picture of the quilt is on our web site at http://wdes.org/fund_raising.htm You can also read about the shelter along with addresses for contact information. We are hoping that you will pass this info to all your members and let them know that we have tickets for sale. If you would like a poster for display, we would be happy to send them to you. Any thing that you or your group could do to help promote this raffle (and someone will win a wonderful and unique quilt) would be most appreciated and welcome. I am having a 50th birthday bash and costume parade on August 7, 2004. We are leaving from our house 2pm and riding to Dothan where we will ride the circle and have a drive thru at the Harley Dealer approx 2:45p-3:00p. We will continue around the circle and end up at Hooters for a party. Everyone is invited to join, but we would prefer that you wear a crazy outfit or costume.
